At Thornsett we are fortunate to have our own in-house maintenance team who are always on hand to make sure our properties are kept safe, comfortable, and in full working order. So what is a day in the life of Brad, George, and Rob really like?

At Thornsett we are fortunate to have our own in-house maintenance team who are always on hand to make sure our properties are kept safe, comfortable, and in full working order. So what is a day in the life of Brad, George, and Rob really like?

 

How long have you been with Thornsett?

The current team of 3 are all at different stages of their Thornsett journey, Brad joined us 10 years ago as an apprentice and is now maintenance manager, George our apprentice has been with us for 18 months and our newest recruit, Rob is in his first week!

 

What is the best part of your job?

We love getting to know our tenants and hearing about their university life stories. As we have a lot of international students its also interesting to learn about other countries.

 

How many properties do you usually visit each day?

On a usual day, we can visit between 10 and 20 properties. Our record is 63 set in July 2020.

 

What is the most common repair job?

A broken toilet seat !!

 

What is the funniest job you have ever had to attend?

Halloween is always fun when everyone is in fancy dress. We recently went into a cellar and were greeted by a 6ft inflatable T-Rex in the corner that made us jump!

 

What are your top 3 housekeeping tips?

Set up a weekly rota to share the load in keeping the communal areas clean and tidy

Don’t forget to put the bins out when they are due and make sure the rubbish is bagged up

Keep the shower waste clean especially with long hair

 

What job do you dread being reported?

We don’t dread any jobs, we are always happy to help but our least favorite task is unblocking sani-flos
